OpenAI forms math advisory group as its AI resolves more than 100 open problems
OpenAI has created an independent Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, hosted by the Institute for Advanced Study, to give mathematicians a voice in its fast‑moving math research after the AI claimed solutions to the Navier‑Stokes problem and over 100 other open questions. While the group can assess and publicize results, it has no authority to slow or steer OpenAI’s work, prompting concern from many leading mathematicians.
